Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) Seek New Committee Members

The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) is currently advertising for new members to join the MHRA Independent Scientific Advisory Committee (ISAC).

The CPRD is jointly funded by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), provides anonymised longitudinal patient data for public health research. To date, over 1,700 published studies have used CPRD data for research.

ISAC provides advice to the MHRA on proposals for research using data from the CPRD. Specifically, ISAC members advise CPRD and the MHRA on scientific and methodological issues relating to all research applications seeking access to CPRD data.

They are interested in applicants with considerable expertise and research experience in the following areas:

  • Cancer Epidemiology
  • Cardiovascular Research
  • Child Health
  • Genetic Epidemiology /Precision or Stratified Medicine
  • Health Informatics
  • Machine Learning
  • Pathology (Laboratory testing)
  • Pharmacology/Pharmacovigilance
  • Psychiatry
  • Surgery
  • Women’s Health

The time commitment for members is four meetings per year, plus review of study protocols and other communications between meetings, as requested by the Chair. Members receive a meeting attendance fee of £174. Expenses are paid in line with Agency rates; only UK travel will be claimable.
